Tourism in Africa

In Africa—the continent of wild life, safaris and pyramids—the traveller may visit among other tourist destinations: The city of Essaouira, a paradise itself on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, where the strong, permanent trade winds make it the ideal place for windsurfing; the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, from Tetuan to Ceuta, highly admired for the beauty of its beach resorts and its nice weather; the Turquoise Argelian Coast (on the Mediterranean Sea, to the East of Argel), with rocky inlets and broad beaches specially apt to practice nautical sports; Djerba Isle, Tunez, known as the “Mediterranean Polynesia”; the Saharan Region of Hoggar Massif (and in its hinterland, Oued Tanguet and Agargart, two oasis and garden areas) in Argelia, where ecotourism and trips living together and sharing with tuareg nomad communities are two of the main options; Alexandria city, in Egypt, with its Greek and Roman ruins and a rebuilding of the largest library of Ancient Times, the Library of Alexandria; the beautiful beaches of Marsa Metruh on the Mediterranean coast, to the West of this city; Guizeh Pyramids (Keops, Kefren and Micerinos) as well as the enigmatic Sphinx near El Cairo, Egypt; the city of Hurghada, a large beach resort and tourist place on the Red Sea coast (other very well known destinations on the Read Sea are Marsa Alam and Port Said); Niokolo-Koba National Park, Senegal, that keeps and protects a large amount of the indigenous biodiversity of the Western African savannah (lions; leopards; elephants; antelopes; buffaloes; hippos; crocodiles); Queen Elizabeth Nacional Park, Uganda, one of the best places of the continent to carry out safaris; Mburu National Park, Uganda, where antelopes; zebras; eagles; hyenas and buffaloes can be found; Kipedo Valley National Park, Uganda, where lions; elephants; giraffes and cheetahs may be watched; Masi Mara, Tsavo; Ruma and Ambroselli National Parks and Nakuru Lake, Kenya, as well; Mounts Kenya and Aberdares (this last one, very appreciated by safari lovers), in Kenya; Turkana Lake (formerly known as “Rudolf”), in the Rift Valley (Kenya and Ethiopia); the last gorillas of our planet, which may be observed practising trekking across the bambu forests in Rwanda; Serengeti National Park, Rwenzori o QEII, Tanzania, where those areas distant from the usual safari roads keep still intact their original charm; Kilimanjaro Mount, Tanzania, which combines the jungle on its slopes with the glaciers on its summit; the beautiful Mozambique beaches (Ponta do Ouro –Golden Point–, Malugane; Inhaca Island; Inhambane; Xai-Xai; Vilankulo; São Martino de Bilene –St. Martin of Bilene– and Chonguene); Victoria Falls, Zambia, a waterfall of higher than 100 meters over Zambezi River; Moremi Reserve in Botswana, which stands out due to a very peculiar vegetation; Etosha National Park, with lions; elephants; gnues; leopards; cheetahs; zebras; giraffes; and antelopes; the desert of Namibia, with ochre-coloured dunes of three hundred metres of height; Kruger National Park, South Africa, a thicket savannah inhabitted by hyenas; lions; leopards; hippos; buffaloes; elephants; giraffes; zebras; antelopes and cheetahs; the dream Southafrican beaches over the Indic Ocean near the touristic city of Durban, in KwoZulu-Natal Province and Cape Town, with its european style, one of the three Southafrican capitals, together with Bloemfontein and Pretoria. see less … read more
