Tourism in Egypt
The monumental ruins of its millenarian history makes Egypt a unique place. Tourist destinies: the city of Cairo, capital of the country; the pyramids from Gizeh (Keops, Kefren and Micerinos) and the enigmatic Sphinx; the city of Luxor, located on both margins from the Nile to 670 kilometers to the south of Cairo, with the temples of Luxor and Karnak and the Kings' Valley; the city of Aswan, located to borders of the Nile, 950 kilometers to the south of Cairo, with the Museum of Nubia, the Elephantine island, the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan; Abu Simbel, 280 kilometers to the south of Aswan; the Temple of Rameses II and the Temple of Nefertary; the city of Alexandria, with its Greek and Roman ruins, and a reconstruction of the greatest Library of the Antiquity, the Library of Alexandria, financed by the United Nations and the Government of Egypt; the city of Hurgada (Hurghada), a great spa and tourist center in the coast of the Red Sea (other tourist centers of importance on the Red Sea are Marsa Alam and Port Said); the Oasis of Bahariya, known historically by its sulforosos springs and at the moment also by the important archaeological findings that they have been realised in him; the peninsula of Sinai, the Santa Catherine's Monastery (in which is a library with thousands of old books), and the spa of Sharm the-Sheik in the gulf of Akaba (one of the main centers of diving of the world); and the beautiful beaches of Mersa Matruh, in the coast of the Mediterranean, to the west of Alexandria.
